Data Retention and Deletion

Last updated: 31 August 2026. We keep what is needed to run Again safely, and no more. This page sets out how long each kind of record lives.

Principles

  • We collect only what materially improves matching, safety or running the service.
  • Records are kept for as long as their purpose lasts, then removed.
  • Safety records outlive an account where that is necessary to protect other members.
  • Where a record must be kept, we keep the minimum and separate it from anything used for matching.

Retention by record type

  • Account and profile: For as long as your account is open, then removed when you delete it.
  • Compatibility answers and availability: While your account is open. Removed on deletion. Older questionnaire versions are kept only as a version marker on past matching runs.
  • Sex, held privately for Circle balance: While your account is open. Removed on deletion. Never used in compatibility scoring and never shown publicly.
  • Circle membership, RSVPs and attendance: For the life of the Circle and a limited period afterwards so outcomes and reliability can be understood.
  • Circle messages: For the duration of the Circle and its 30 day wind down window, then removed on the normal cycle.
  • Meetup feedback and check-ins: Retained in a form used to improve matching. Feedback is never shown to the person it is about.
  • Reports, safety cases and enforcement records: Retained after account deletion where needed to protect other members, handle repeat behaviour or meet a legal obligation.
  • Reliability signals such as no-shows: Held privately while your account is open and for a limited period afterwards.
  • Payment and billing records: Retained for the period required by accounting and tax law. The exact period is being confirmed.
  • Waitlist submissions: Until you ask us to remove them, or until the waitlist for your city is closed.

Where a period above is described in principle rather than in months, it is because the fixed period is still being confirmed. It will be stated here once it is.

Deleting your account

Use Your data and privacy in your Again account, or the contact form at again.social/contact, signed in to your account, and ask us to delete your account. We confirm, then remove your profile, answers, availability and photos, and disconnect you from future matching. Messages you sent to a Circle may remain visible to that Circle without your name while the Circle is running.

Deleting an account does not cancel a payment on its own. Cancel billing as described in the Cancellation and Refund Policy, or ask us to do both at once.

What survives deletion

  • Safety reports, cases and enforcement outcomes, held under restricted access.
  • Records we must keep for accounting, tax or legal reasons.
  • Aggregated statistics that no longer identify you.

Backups

Deleted data can persist in routine backups for a short period before those backups age out. It is not restored into the live service.

Your rights

Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection and restriction are covered in the Privacy Policy.
