Law enforcement
Law enforcement and government requests
A dedicated channel for law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, regulators and other government authorities. This is not the channel for member support or safety reports.
Who this is for
This portal is for authorised officials acting in an official capacity at a law enforcement agency, a prosecution authority, a court or tribunal, a regulator or another government body. Members of the public should use reporting and appeals instead. Nothing submitted here reaches the member safety queue.
What Again accepts here
- Subpoena
- Search warrant
- Court order
- Preservation request
- Emergency disclosure request
- Government or regulatory order
- Other law enforcement or government request
- General question about legal process
Verification
Every requester is verified by a person at Again before anything is produced. An agency-issued email address is not treated as verification on its own. Expect Again to confirm your identity and authority through official agency contact details, and to ask follow-up questions where anything is unclear.
What a usable request contains
- Clear account identifiers. The Again account email address or account ID is best. Names and phone numbers are often not enough to identify an account.
- The precise categories of records sought, rather than a general description.
- A specific date or time range.
- The legal authority relied on, and the issuing authority where there is one.
- A return or production deadline where one applies.
Emergencies
If there is an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury, select the emergency disclosure request category. Emergency requests are handled at the highest internal priority. Selecting emergency does not by itself result in disclosure. Again still reviews the request and the stated emergency basis before producing anything.
Preservation
Preservation requests ask Again to retain records that already exist while legal process is obtained. State the scope and the period you are asking for. Again tracks preservation expiry and expects a renewal request before a preservation period ends.
How Again reviews a request
Receiving a request does not mean Again will produce data. Again reviews each request for validity, scope, authority and applicable law. Again may ask for clarification, narrow a request, or decline a request that is invalid or overbroad, and produces only what applicable law authorises or requires, or what a valid emergency basis supports after review.
Again makes no representation that it holds the records described in any request. What exists depends on what the service actually collects and how long it is kept.
Notice to users
Again may notify a member that their information has been requested where that is legally permitted and appropriate in the circumstances. This is not an unconditional commitment either way. Where a court order, statutory prohibition or another valid legal basis prohibits or delays notice, Again follows it. Tell us if you believe notice is prohibited or should be delayed and provide the supporting basis or order.
Service of process
Submitting a request through this portal is for intake and review only. It does not by itself constitute valid legal service and does not waive any otherwise applicable requirement for proper service, unless Again expressly confirms in writing that it accepts service of that specific request.
General questions about legal process are also handled in the law enforcement portal at again.social/law-enforcement. Do not send case documents or personal data by ordinary email. Use the secure upload below.
Handling times
Again aims to acknowledge and handle every request within thirty calendar days of receipt as an internal maximum. Where a legal instrument states an earlier return date, or where a request is an emergency, the earlier deadline governs. The internal target never extends a deadline stated on a legal instrument.
